• Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that develops from the thin layer of tissue that covers many of the internal organs (known as the mesothelium)

  • Pleural mesothelioma

Symptoms or signs of mesothelioma may not appear until 20 to 50 years (or more) after exposure to asbestos. Shortness of breath, cough, and pain in the chest due to an accumulation of fluid in the pleural space (pleural effusion) are often symptoms of pleural mesothelioma.

  • Peritoneal mesothelioma

The most common symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma are abdominal swelling and pain due to ascites (a buildup of fluid in the abdominal cavity)

  • Pericardial mesothelioma

Pericardial mesothelioma is not well characterized, but observed cases have included cardiac symptoms, specifically constrictive pericarditis, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, and cardiac tamponade.

  • Asbestos in buildings

Many building materials used in both public and domestic premises prior to the banning of asbestos may contain asbestos.

Asbestos Home Test : prevention is better than cure

Asbestos home testing is a process of testing the presence of asbestos in homes in general and building materials in particular. Asbestos is a mineral fiber heat resistant, chemicals and electricity. Construction and insulation industries have made widespread use of asbestos in their operations. Asbestos is commonly used in your home, in one form or the other. Some building materials that may contain asbestos materials are vinyl floor tiles, textured paint, oven and stovepipe, insulation, stove door seals, roofing, cement and material shingles. Asbestos coating was most commonly used until the early 1970’s in various home appliances, such as toasters, dryers and hair dryers. Now, the government has set standards for the use of asbestos and its exposure. Asbestos home testing is essential because exposure and inhalation of asbestos fibers is dangerous for your health.

Friable asbestos materials in homes, industries and appliances could lead to serious asbestos-related diseases. The following people are more vulnerable to asbestos-related diseases:  Work in industries and mines  Build buildings  Make ceilings  Perform insulationApart ceiling of these people All other people who live in houses with asbestos materials Construction contaminated or involved in the use or repair of devices and products containing asbestos may also communicate with asbestos diseases. This makes the asbestos house test a necessary process for all homes that are built before 1980 and all people who use appliances and products or who could pose Asbestos Undamaged asbestos materials. Health Hazards can not cause any danger to health. When asbestos is exposed to knocking, rubbing, or extreme vibration, its wear and tear occurs and shows signs of wear. Asbestos is only harmful when it has been damaged, and its fiber mixes with the air.

You can determine the condition and stability of asbestos products through asbestos home testing. Home testing of asbestos is mandatory because exposure to asbestos can lead to life-threatening diseases such as asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma. Asbestos can harm you if you inhale asbestos fibers. There is no safe level of asbestos exposure and even short-term exposure to asbestos creates a possibility of your catching a disease caused by asbestos. Removing asbestos from HomeIt is not possible to perform asbestos tests in the house. You need qualified professional to check for asbestos in your home. Mesothelioma cancer: What is Mesothelioma sarcoma ?

Mesothelioma cancer What is Mesothelioma sarcoma

What is mesothelioma sarcoma? Between the two forms of mesothelioma tumors, which are benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous), the latter is more common and dangerous, popularly known as mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is characterized by its dangerous potential to spread to other parts of the body.

Types of Mesothelioma:

There are three different types of mesothelioma:

1) Ephitheliod: It affects the membranous tissue covering the internal organs and body surfaces. Although the majority of cases of mesothelioma occurred today belong to this type, it has the best prognosis (prospects for survival or treatment).

2) Sarcomatoid: It is also known as mesothelioma sarcoma. It stems from supportive tissues such as bones, muscles, cartilage and fats. About 7% to 20% of mesothelioma cases are of this type.

3) Mixed / biphasic: 20% to 35% of mesothelioma cases belong to this type. It features both the characteristics of the two types.

The treatment options above remain the same for all aspects of types.Physical Mesothelioma Mesothelioma arising from the thoracic cavity are known as pleural mesothelioma and amounts to a participation of about three quarters of all cases. Peritoneal mesothelioma, which begins and spreads in the abdomen, accounts for 10% to 20% of mesothelioma cases. Mesothelioma affects the testes lining, which is actually an out-lunging of the peritoneum in the scrotum, is rather rare. The cases of pericardial mesothelioma that starts in the heart cavities are also very rare. Mesothelioma and Mesothelioma MassesNew cases, although they are less common, amount from 2000 to 3000, every year only in the United States. Most of the patients diagnosed with mesothelioma are in the age group of 50 and over with the majority being people in the seventies.

This is mainly due to their exposure to asbestos in the 1940s and 1950s or even more early. Exposure victims of the I970s and 1980s of the year later still have to be diagnosed. Men are more likely than women to be male victims, 3 to 5 times more likely than women. This is probably because during this period, the women of the liberation movements were launched, which resulted in prohibiting them from building work. On racial parameters, it is more common among Caucasians than African Americans.Even although cases of mesothelioma sarcoma are rare, they are extremely dangerous. People diagnosed with the disease are mostly in their last stages and critical, making their treatment more difficult compared to other forms of cancer. The survival time varies from one to two years. With unparalleled progress in modern science and medical technology, the chances of mesothelioma treatment and recovery have always been good news increasing. The is that patients with mesothelioma sarcoma can sue for compensation against companies responsible for exposure to asbestos.

Mesothelioma cancer

Mesothelioma cancer

Unfortunately the word Mesothelioma is becoming more and more known, the mere mention of this striking fear in all of us because we know that it is associated with death. Asbestos is the reaper, Mesothelioma is his daughter in the hand. Asbestos, the miracle product of the fifties is now recognized as an enemy of the twentieth century. A ruthless enemy who will kill more people than the war. Men, women and children will be victims of their prey, innocents who have at some point in their lives inhalation of asbestos dust. Most of us have been in contact with products containing asbestos in our life time. We sat in the asbestos classrooms, stood next to our fathers as they cut an asbestos fence, arrived old linoleum with asbestos clogged at the back of it. Visited the local board where the broken leaves of this were offered to the wind.Records show that there is a greater number of people with asbestosis and mesothelioma who have directly worked in asbestos mines, shipyards and the companies that manufacture asbestos products, but there are a large number of people who have never worked in those industries.

Their contact with asbestos, because of the dust brought home on their husband’s clothes or from the asbestos residues placed around the houses of mines and perimeters of the city. But the tragedy does not end there, children playing innocently in their own backyard played among asbestos residues as children play elsewhere in the sand. They had no way of knowing that their sand was blue asbestos. A good bath at the end of the day, perhaps removed the dust from the skin, but the dust in the lungs and would have stayed dormant for many years before claiming his deadly warning legacy.Without, a healthy individual suddenly gets to short of breath, x rays reveal fluid in the lungs and the nightmare begins. Questions are asked and you answer, yes, I was exposed to asbestos dust but I was alone in the city for a few months and it was more than 40 years ago. How is it possible? This is the most embarrassing thing about mesothelioma. Why is there such a long period of time between inhalation of asbestos dust and the onset of the disease? What triggers a strong healthy body suddenly succumb to it? What can we do to prevent this from happening? Blood tests are now available to determine if mesothelioma is present in the body before a person is aware of the symptoms.

This is an amazing breakthrough and may be the first step towards healing the disease before it becomes terminal. Recently, mesothelioma was cured of a mouse and attempts to give it back the mouse were unsuccessful. That too is an exciting thing and holds a glimmer of hope for all of us. I witnessed first-hand the devastation of mesothelioma. My husband was a strong, manly man who rarely had a day off in his life. Suddenly, at the age of 52, he became short of breath and was later diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma. He had lived in the asbestos mining town of Wittenoom in Western Australia for a few months at the age of seven. Asbestos dust inhaled then it took 45 years to become deadly. I still find it hard to believe. Despite his prognosis of three to nine months, Brian survived for two years. He was 54 when he died

Mesothelioma : the greatest man of the epidemic Made

the greatest man of the epidemic Made

Mesothelioma – Largest Man Does Epidemic in Lorraine KemberIt is documented that Australia was the highest per capita use of asbestos in the world from the 1950s until the 1970s. As a result tragically, Australia has now the highest per capita rate of mesothelioma in the world. With more than 500 Australians contracting a mesothelioma a year, it is estimated that up to 18,000 Australians will die from this asbestos-related cancer by the year 2020. Despite the awareness of the dangers of asbestos, there are many people who have not heard of mesothelioma. This asbestos-related cancer is defined as: a malignant tumor spread from the pleural mesothelium, the pericardium or peritoneum, resulting in inhalation of asbestos fibers. One of the most confusing and frightening facts known about mesothelioma is that many years can pass between inhalation of asbestos dust and its deadly inheritance of the disease, it is not uncommon for four decades or more to go before the symptoms due to asbestos dust inhalation appeared. In November 2004, I was invited as a speaker at Asbestos Global Congress 2004 held in Tokyo, Japan. More than 800 participants from 40 countries around the world were present. To be part of such a large gathering of human brothers, united in a quest to rid the poison of asbestos in our circles was a very moving experience. Having lost my husband to mesothelioma, I know first-hand the suffering it imposes cruel diseases on his innocent victims. There were many speakers and everyone said a tale, pain, death and sorrow. We listened, we understood and hurt us for the past, present and future of killer asbestos victims and its legacy of mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. We listened and we were shocked and indignant to learn that despite the awareness of the dangers of asbestos and the rising incidence of asbestos-related disease, there are still some countries that are asbestos mining with little or no regard for their workers or people who will come into contact with asbestos products. Worldwide Asbestos Disease Association members work tirelessly and fight against almost insurmountable obstacles to ban asbestos in all countries of the world. It is a sobering and scary fact, that even though we have succeeded in this quest, the legacy of asbestos-related diseases will continue for five decades.Add your voice to everyone who wants this killer product erased from World environments – Add your voice to the call that advocates for adequate compensation for the victims and their families. Sign the petition online at Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization: http://ift.tt/VV2RbY. The Asbestos Awareness Awareness Organization (ADAO) continues to raise public awareness about the dangers of asbestos exposure and Asbestos-related diseases that are incurable and often fatal. ADAO is developing rapidly, uniting veterans, firefighters, shipyards, teachers and thousands of other innocent people around the world. Awareness of asbestos leads to education, prevention, new treatments and ultimately a cure.
